The Art Of Interviewing Children - And An Angie Baxter Giveaway

Pin It When it comes to taking photos of my kids it has always been a case of hit and miss, depending on their mood, their patience and mine, I could end up with some great shots or some complete disasters.

For an example of said photo disasters - just take note of this shot.

Yup catastrophic right?

You all know I adore the gorgeous phorographer Angie Baxter. Her work is nothing short of brilliant as far as I'm concerned and when I was priveleged to attend her Love Your Camera Workshop, she taught me how to not only turn on my fancy shmancy DSLR but to switch it to Manual and actually know how to use it.

Well my friends, Angie has done it again. With her fabulous new eBook The art of Interviewing Children, she teaches you how to have mostly hits rather than misses when it comes to photographing kids. The technique is in the way you interact with kids, the conversations you have and the questions you ask them whilst you are taking their photos.

When Angie asked me to review her new ebook I of course didn't need to think twice, as not only do I idolise Angie, I was seriously desperate to try out her techniques and share them with you guys.

These little dudes of mine were nothing short of feral as we set out for the photoshoot. It was about to rain and it was the only spare window of time I had in this crazy weekend to try out the skills I had picked up through reading Angies's book.

We got to the location as the clouds came over and the kids were complaining about the cold, so I was sure this was going to end in tears and tantrums (mostly on my part). But I followed Angie's advice and sure enough magic happened before my very eyes. The kids were not only giggling, they were rip snorting laughing and a dream photo shoot played out.

In just under 15 minutes, I took over 300 photos and I can honestly say that I would proudly display more than half of them in an album or frame. That is a pretty impressive strike rate you have to admit.

Here are some of my favourite snaps from the shoot.

When I asked Angie if she would be happy to giveaway a copy of her gorgeous eBook to one of my fabulous readers, she was more than happy to oblige - Just another reason I love this woman, cause she loves you guys and that earns someone major brownie points in my book! (not that Angie really needed any more Brownie Points from me - that chick already has my heart.

Just found your blog in true internet browsing style - a comment you made on a Fox in Flats post! I have to say, I am loving it. Oh dear, my "must read" blog list is expanding! Also, LOVE your pics of your boys - great job! My husband is the photographer of the family and knows all about the manual settings on his DSLR, but not so much about the art of interviewing children... I would love to win this ebook for him (and for me to enjoy the pics he creates)!
I guess the vacuuming and dusting can wait another day... :>

Congratulations to firefish you have won yourself a copy of the Angie Baxter's The Art of Interviewing Children.
