What is Super Sexy, completely rules the kitchen and cooks a mean Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese?
Come on guess cause I am super excited about giving one away to you guys!
Ok well you could be forgiven for thinking I am giving away my hubby cause he totally fits the above description (*major suck up warning), but I would be certifiably mad if I gave him away.
So instead I have something equally as fabulous - a Phillips / Jamie Oliver Homecooker.
When I was asked if I would like to review one of these brilliant machines I decided that the incredibly hardworking, relentlessly unselfish cook of this house absolutely deserved the opportunity to try it out and so I excitedly screamed out to my hubby in the other room "Hey huni - wait till you see what you're getting".
Yes correctomundo, the man of this house is indeed the chef as well.
Oh I potter in the kitchen, I bake the occasional cupcake, dessert and Pad Thai on the weekends, but honestly I lack the patience and the desire to cook on a day to day basis.
My excuse is that I work until 6.30 four nights a week and we would be eating at midnight if it were left to me to cook. That and I play on the fact that I am completely turned on by a man in an apron.
Enough said.
Now this Homecooker machine does it all. I'm telling you - there is not much it can't do.
It chops, slices, shreds and grates AND it stirs your food so it cooks evenly and doesn't burn. It steams and cooks to perfection your veggies, pasta and seafood. And then when it's done it serves you up a warm plate of mouthwatering tucker with a cold crisp Sauvignon Blanc on the side.
OK it doesn't actually do that last bit, but it does turn itself off and keep your food warm until you have opened that bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and you're ready to eat.
Sounds perfect doesn't it?
It is.
Now as I mentioned before, I am NOT the regular cook in this household so when it came time to trying this baby out, I handed the reigns over to my hubby, grabbed my camera (and a glass of wine) and proceeded to photograph him cooking. I may have also completely annoyed the crap out of him by asking questions about what he thinks of the machine at the same time.
Here's how things played out.
Me: Are you ready to whip us up a culinary delight with your exciting new toy huni?
Carl the Hubstar: Don't push your luck. Yes I'm ready.
Me: So whatcha doing?
Carl the Hubstar: I'm doing something you should do every once in a while - reading the instructions.
Me: OK then. I'll just be quiet and photograph you shall I?
Carl followed one of the recipes from the Jamie Oliver's Homecooker Recipe book that came with the machine and he was like a kid in a toy shop.
I've told you guys before that the men in our family (aka my husband, my father and my brother) have this weird rivalry "He who dies with the most toys, wins".
Well my father is gonna be insanely jealous he doesn't have one of these yet!
So what exactly did my dear hubby think about the machine?
Carl the Hubstar: I liked that I could clean up the kitchen whilst the dinner was cooking so you didn't nag me about making a mess. The stirring arm was fantastic as I didn't need to stand there and stir every few minutes and nothing burned. I didn't have to waste time chopping everything up before I began cooking and it was pretty cool that I could pretty much just throw all the ingredients in, crack a beer and sit back and watch the surfing whilst dinner cooked itself.
Me: So who would you recommend the Phillips Homecooker too?
Carl the Hubstar: I reckon this is perfect for any time poor parent who has sport to run off to, homework to help with or who doesn't want to be chained to the kitchen. It is pretty much perfect for anyone who has a wife that hates cooking as much as mine does.
Me: Ummm can I get you another beer huni? **cue more major sucking up.
Me: So you're telling me that this awesome machine has Multiple cooking activities right, it chops, stirs, melts, simmers, stews, boils, steams, fries and sautés. It comes with five cutting discs that shred, slice and julienne. It includes a steam basket, steam tray and pasta insert, has an Auto shut off, a temperature range of 40 – 250⁰ C, a 3 litre family sized stainless steel bowl AND is Dishwasher safe for easy cleaning?
Carl the Hubstar: No..... You're telling me that! Now when you have finished reading the Homecooker website to me, I'll have that beer please.
